POTA (Parks on the Air)

Parks on the Air (POTA) is an amateur radio program that encourages radio enthusiasts to operate from national and state parks. Participants, known as "activators," set up portable radio stations in designated parks to make radio contacts with others, called "hams," who are listening in from elsewhere. The goal is to promote outdoor activity, explore parks, and share the hobby of radio communication. POTA fosters community, environmental awareness, and technical skills while celebrating the natural beauty of parks through wireless connections. It's a way for operators to enjoy nature and connect with others around the world.
