Posterior Approach

The posterior approach in hip surgery involves accessing the hip joint from the back, or posterior side of the body. Surgeons make an incision behind the hip to reach the joint, allowing them to replace or repair damaged parts like the ball and socket. This method provides good visibility and access to the hip structures, often used in total hip replacements. While it offers advantages in flexibility for the surgeon, it may have a slightly higher risk of dislocation post-surgery compared to other approaches. Proper technique and patient precautions help ensure a successful recovery.
