Post-void Residual (PVR)
Post-void residual (PVR) is a medical measurement that indicates how much urine remains in the bladder after a person has urinated. Normally, the bladder empties almost completely, but sometimes some urine remains, which can suggest issues with bladder function or obstruction. PVR is usually measured using ultrasound or a catheter shortly after urination. A high residual volume might lead to urinary problems, infections, or other health concerns, and helps healthcare providers assess bladder health and diagnose conditions like urinary retention or blockages.
