Post-Nasal Drip
Post-nasal drip occurs when excess mucus from the nasal passages drips down the back of the throat. This can happen due to allergies, colds, sinus infections, or irritants. As the mucus builds up, it can cause a feeling of discomfort, a cough, or a sore throat. People may also experience a constant need to clear their throat, hoarseness, or bad breath. Treatment often focuses on addressing the underlying cause, such as using antihistamines for allergies or staying hydrated to thin the mucus. In some cases, decongestants or saline sprays may help alleviate symptoms.
