Post mill
A post mill is an early type of windmill where the entire structure is mounted on a single vertical post, allowing it to rotate to face the wind. The main body, called the body or cap, contains the machinery for grinding or other purposes. This design enables the mill to be turned into the wind easily, optimizing its efficiency. Post mills were common in medieval Europe and are notable for their mobility and simple construction. They played a key role in agricultural communities, harnessing wind power to grind grain and perform other tasks before more advanced mills were developed.
