Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc

"Post hoc ergo propter hoc" is a Latin phrase meaning "after this, therefore because of this." It describes a logical fallacy where someone assumes that because one event happened after another, the first event must have caused the second. For example, if someone believes that wearing a lucky shirt caused their team to win because they won after wearing it, they are falling into this fallacy. It’s important to recognize that just because events occur sequentially doesn’t mean one caused the other; correlation does not necessarily imply causation.
