Positional Games

Positional games are strategic competitions where two players take turns claiming spaces or elements within a designated area, like dots on a grid or points in a graph. The goal is usually to achieve a specific pattern or control a set of positions before the opponent does. Examples include Tic-Tac-Toe and Connect Four. These games involve planning, foresight, and tactical thinking, as players aim both to accomplish their objective and block their opponent’s moves. They are studied in mathematics and computer science to understand optimal strategies and combinatorial properties of arrangements.
