Pope Marcellus II

Pope Marcellus II, born Marcello Cervini, was pope for a brief period in 1555. Elected during a time of religious and political upheaval, he sought to promote church reform and unity. His papacy was short-lived—he served only about a month before passing away from illness—so he didn't have time to implement many changes. Despite its brevity, his election was seen as a positive step towards addressing issues within the Catholic Church during the Counter-Reformation era.
