Pony Express

The Pony Express was a fast mail delivery service in the United States during 1860-1861, primarily across the Western frontier. Riders on horseback would carry mail between stations roughly 10-15 miles apart, crossing difficult terrain to ensure quick communication between the East and West. The service was crucial for rapid news, government messages, and personal correspondence before the transcontinental telegraph made such delivery faster and more efficient. Though it only operated for about 18 months, the Pony Express became a symbol of the American West's rugged determination and innovative efforts to connect distant regions.
