Pontifical Council for the Laity

The Pontifical Council for the Laity was a department of the Vatican responsible for promoting and coordinating efforts within the Catholic Church to engage and support laypeople—non-clerical members—in their faith, vocations, and service. It aimed to foster their active participation in the Church’s mission, encouraging a deeper understanding of their role and contributions. In 2016, it was merged into the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, continuing its work within a broader organization dedicated to supporting lay believers, families, and life issues worldwide.
