Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace

The Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace was a department of the Vatican responsible for promoting Catholic teachings on social justice, human rights, peacebuilding, and the common good. It worked to encourage the Church’s influence in addressing global issues like poverty, inequality, and conflict, fostering dialogue between religious and secular leaders. In 2016, its functions were incorporated into the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, which continues to serve these goals. Essentially, it aimed to guide the Church and its followers in promoting a fair and peaceful world guided by Christian values.
