Juan Ponce de León was a Spanish explorer and conquistador known for his role in the early exploration of the United States. He is often associated with the legend of the Fountain of Youth, which he supposedly sought in Florida during his expeditions in the early 1500s. Ponce de León was also the first governor of Puerto Rico. His explorations significantly contributed to European knowledge of the New World and its geography.
