Polysystem Theory
Polysystem Theory, developed by Itamar Even-Zohar, suggests that literature and cultural products function within interconnected networks called systems. These systems include various genres, styles, and languages, which influence and interact with each other. For example, in a literary system, classical texts coexist with modern works, and translations interact with native literature. Changes in one part can affect the whole system. This perspective helps us understand how cultures develop and how different texts or languages relate, emphasizing that literature is dynamic, multi-layered, and shaped by complex relationships within the broader cultural environment.
