Polygenism

Polygenism is the belief that different human races have separate origins or different creation events, meaning they are distinct groups that did not descend from a single common ancestor. Historically, some thinkers argued that each race was created independently, leading to the idea that races are fundamentally separate entities. This contrasts with monogenism, which holds that all humans come from a single ancestor. Polygenism was often used to justify racial hierarchies and prejudices, but modern science overwhelmingly supports the idea that all humans share a common origin, emphasizing our shared biological and evolutionary history.
