Poltergeist

A poltergeist is a phenomenon involving unexplained loud noises, physical disturbances, or objects being moved or thrown without apparent cause. The term, German in origin, means "noisy ghost." While often associated with hauntings, many experts believe poltergeists are caused by subconscious energy or psychological factors within individuals, especially adolescents, rather than supernatural entities. In some cases, environmental factors or stress may contribute to these disturbances. Overall, it describes unexplained, active phenomena that disturb a space, but scientific consensus generally favors psychological or physical explanations over supernatural ones.
