Polish statehood

Polish statehood dates back over a thousand years, beginning with the establishment of the first Polish kingdom in 966, when Mieszko I adopted Christianity. Throughout history, Poland has experienced periods of independence, partitions by neighboring powers, and rebirths as a sovereign nation. Despite these upheavals, the Polish people maintained a strong national identity, culminating in the re-establishment of an independent Poland in 1918 after World War I. Today, Poland is a parliamentary republic, emphasizing sovereignty, cultural heritage, and integration within the European community, reflecting its long-standing resilience and commitment to self-determination.
