Polisario Front

The Polisario Front is a political and military organization that represents the Sahrawi people, an indigenous group from Western Sahara, a region in North Africa. Founded in 1973, its main goal is to achieve independence for Western Sahara from Moroccan control. The group initially fought against Spanish colonial rule, then later opposed Morocco’s claim over the territory, leading to a long-standing conflict. The Polisario Front seeks self-determination for the Sahrawi people through negotiations or, if necessary, armed resistance. It also administers the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, a government-in-exile claiming sovereignty over Western Sahara.
