Policy Decision Point (PDP)

A Policy Decision Point (PDP) is a system component that evaluates access requests based on predefined security policies. When someone tries to access a resource—like opening a file or entering a system—the PDP reviews the request against rules that specify who can do what under certain conditions. It then decides whether to permit or deny access. Essentially, the PDP acts as a security gatekeeper, ensuring that access is granted only to authorized users according to organizational policies.
