Polarized Training

Polarized training is a method used by athletes to improve performance by emphasizing two contrasting types of workouts: low-intensity and high-intensity. Most of the training time (about 80%) is spent doing easy, sustainable exercise that helps build endurance and recovery. The remaining 20% involves intense, hard sessions that boost speed and strength. This approach minimizes moderate-effort training, which can lead to fatigue without significant benefits. By balancing this "polarized" intensity distribution, athletes can enhance overall fitness more effectively and reduce the risk of overtraining.
