Poison Ivy, Poison Oak, and Poison Sumac are plants that contain a resin called urushiol, which can cause an itchy, painful skin reaction upon contact. Poison Ivy typically has three leaflets and can be found in various environments, while Poison Oak often resembles oak leaves and grows mostly in the western U.S. Poison Sumac, which has seven to thirteen leaflets, is found in wet areas, primarily in the eastern U.S. When touched, the rash can develop within hours to days, and it's advisable to cleanse the skin and seek treatment if a rash occurs.
