Pointe du Hoc

Pointe du Hoc is a dramatic cliff-top in Normandy, France, that features a steep escarpment overlooking the English Channel. During World War II, on June 6, 1944, D-Day Allied forces launched a daring attack there to neutralize German artillery positioned to fire on invading ships and troops. The battle involved intense fighting, and although the Germans fought fiercely, the Allies eventually secured the site. Today, Pointe du Hoc is a historic battlefield, with preserved craters and artillery remnants, serving as a memorial to the soldiers’ bravery and a reminder of one of the most significant military operations of the war.
