Plutocracy

A plutocracy is a system of government or influence where wealth determines power. In such societies, wealthy individuals or families hold significant or dominant control over political decisions and policies, often because they can fund campaigns, sway public opinion, or influence institutions. This concentration of influence can reduce the political power of ordinary citizens, making economic status a key factor in shaping societal directions. Essentially, in a plutocracy, the rich have outsized influence over governance, prioritizing their interests and potentially limiting broader democratic participation.
