Plurality

Plurality is an electoral system where the candidate who receives the most votes wins, even if they don't have more than half of the total votes. For example, if three candidates receive 40%, 35%, and 25% of the votes, the candidate with 40% wins because they have the largest share, not necessarily a majority (over 50%). It’s commonly used in systems like first-past-the-post elections, where the focus is on having the most votes rather than a majority, which can sometimes lead to winners who don’t represent the overall majority opinion.
