Plunkett Syndrome

Plunkett Syndrome, also known as Vaginal Agenesis or Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome, is a condition where a person is born without a uterus and upper part of the vagina, while external genitalia are normal. This occurs due to abnormal development of the reproductive organs before birth. Individuals typically have normal ovaries and external genitalia, but they cannot become pregnant naturally. The condition is usually diagnosed in adolescence when periods don’t start. Management may include surgical or non-surgical options to create a functional vagina, allowing for sexual activity and psychological well-being.
