Plenary Councils
Plenary Councils are gatherings of bishops within a particular geographic region, such as a country or an archdiocese, convened to discuss and decide on matters related to church doctrine, discipline, and pastoral activities. These councils aim to address local issues, improve church life, and implement policies consistent with broader church teachings. Unlike ecumenical councils, which involve bishops worldwide, plenary councils focus on regional concerns. They typically result in decrees or canons that guide the local church’s operations and spiritual direction, fostering unity and addressing specific challenges faced by the community.
