Pleistocene Era

The Pleistocene Era, often called the Ice Age, lasted from about 2.6 million to 11,700 years ago. During this time, Earth's climate was cooler, causing large parts of the planet to freeze over with ice sheets. This period saw repeated cycles of glacial (cold) and interglacial (warmer) periods, shaping landscapes and influencing the evolution of many species, including early humans. It was a critical time for environmental changes, migration, and adaptation, setting the stage for the modern world. The Pleistocene ended as the climate warmed, transitioning into the current Holocene epoch.
