Player Efficiency Rating (PER)

Player Efficiency Rating (PER) is a statistical measure used to evaluate a basketball player's overall performance. It combines various game stats—such as points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and turnovers—into a single number that estimates how efficiently a player contributes to their team. A higher PER indicates better overall performance relative to others. While it provides a useful snapshot of a player's productivity, it doesn't capture all aspects of gameplay like leadership or team impact. PER is often used to compare players across seasons and different playing styles objectively.
