Platonic thought
Platonic thought, originating from the philosopher Plato, posits that beyond our physical world lies a realm of perfect, unchanging Forms or Ideas—such as goodness, beauty, and justice—that represent the true essence of things. Our physical experiences are imperfect copies of these perfect Forms. For example, all beautiful things participate in the perfect Form of Beauty. This perspective suggests our understanding of reality is rooted in intellectual insight into these eternal, non-material realities, which are more real than the physical objects we perceive.
