PLATO trial

The PLATO trial was a large medical study that tested a medication called ticagrelor to see if it helps prevent dangerous blood clots and heart attacks in people with acute coronary syndrome (a serious heart condition). Participants were randomly assigned to receive either ticagrelor or another drug called clopidogrel, along with standard treatments. The study found that ticagrelor reduced the risk of death, heart attacks, or strokes more than clopidogrel, with a similar safety profile. Overall, the trial provided strong evidence that ticagrelor is an effective option for managing certain heart conditions.
