Plating
Plating is a process where a thin layer of metal is applied to the surface of an object, typically for protection, durability, or aesthetic reasons. This is achieved through electrochemical methods, where the object (called the substrate) is submerged in a solution containing metal ions and an electric current is used to deposit those ions onto its surface. The result is a smooth, even coating that can improve corrosion resistance, reduce wear, or enhance appearance. Common examples include gold plating on jewelry or chrome plating on car parts.
