Plate Fixation

Plate fixation is a surgical method used to repair broken bones. A metal plate, often made of titanium or stainless steel, is attached to the bone with screws to hold the fractured pieces together. This stabilizes the fracture, allowing proper healing and alignment. The plate acts like an internal splint, providing support during recovery, reducing pain, and helping restore normal function. It is commonly used for complex or unstable fractures that cannot heal properly with just casts or external fixes. Once healing is complete, the plate might be removed or left in place if it does not cause issues.
