plate boundaries

Plate boundaries are where Earth's large, rigid crustal pieces, called tectonic plates, meet. These boundaries are zones where plates interact, causing geological activity. There are three main types: divergent boundaries, where plates move apart, creating new crust; convergent boundaries, where plates push together, often forming mountains or causing earthquakes; and transform boundaries, where plates slide past each other, leading to strikeslip faults. These interactions shape the Earth's surface, causing earthquakes, volcanoes, and mountain building, and are fundamental to understanding the dynamic nature of our planet's geology.
