Plastics and Composites

Plastics are versatile synthetic materials made from polymers, which are long chains of molecules, and are molded into various shapes for everyday use, such as bottles, containers, and packaging. Composites are engineered materials composed of two or more different substances—typically a matrix (like plastic) and Reinforcement (such as fibers)—designed to combine strengths, like lightness and durability. They are used in industries like aerospace, automotive, and construction to create strong, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant components. Both plastics and composites are valued for their adaptability, strength-to-weight ratio, and ability to be tailored for specific applications.
