Plasma Thruster
A plasma thruster is a type of space propulsion device that generates thrust by ionizing a propellant—usually a gas like xenon—into a plasma (a state of matter with charged particles). The thruster then accelerates this plasma using electromagnetic fields, creating a high-speed jet that pushes the spacecraft forward. Unlike traditional chemical rockets, plasma thrusters are highly efficient, enabling longer missions with less fuel. They are commonly used in satellite station-keeping and deep-space exploration, providing precise and sustained propulsion over extended periods.
