The plantar nerve is a nerve located in the sole of the foot that provides sensation and motor control to parts of the foot, especially the toes and the muscles involved in movement and maintaining balance. It branches from the larger tibial nerve and divides into smaller nerves that supply specific areas, allowing you to feel touch, pain, and temperature, as well as helping with movements like toe flexion.
