Plant Reproductive Biology
Plant reproductive biology involves the processes by which plants produce new individuals. Most plants reproduce through flowers that contain both male parts (stamens, producing pollen) and female parts (pistils, containing the ovary and ovules). Pollination occurs when pollen is transferred from the male to the female part, often with help from wind, animals, or insects. Fertilization happens when pollen reaches the ovule, leading to seed formation. These seeds can grow into new plants. Some plants also reproduce asexually, generating new plants from parts like roots or stems. This cycle ensures the survival and diversity of plant species.
