Plant Metabolism
Plant metabolism encompasses all the chemical processes that occur within plants to sustain life. It involves two main types: photosynthesis, where plants convert sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into energy-rich sugars and oxygen; and respiration, where they break down these sugars to produce energy for growth and maintenance. These processes enable plants to grow, repair, reproduce, and respond to their environment. Overall, plant metabolism is essential for transforming raw ingredients from the environment into the nutrients and energy that support plant life and, ultimately, life on Earth.
