Planned Behavior Theory
The Theory of Planned Behavior suggests that our actions are influenced by our intentions, which are shaped by three key factors: our attitudes toward the behavior (whether we see it as positive or negative), our perceptions of social pressure (what we think others expect us to do), and our belief in our ability to perform the behavior (our confidence). Essentially, if we believe a behavior is beneficial, think others support it, and feel capable of doing it, we're more likely to intend to act and then actually carry out that action.
