Plains region
The Plains region, also known as the Great Plains, is a vast expanse of flat or gently rolling land stretching across parts of the central United States and Canada. It is characterized by open grasslands, making it ideal for farming and ranching, especially wheat, corn, and cattle. The area experiences a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. Historically, the Plains were home to many Indigenous tribes and played a significant role in westward expansion and agriculture. Its expansive, unobstructed landscape and fertile soil continue to influence North America's economy and culture.
