Placental site trophoblastic tumor
Placental site trophoblastic tumor (PSTT) is a rare form of cancer that develops from specialized cells in the uterus called trophoblastic cells, which normally help the placenta during pregnancy. Unlike other types of gestational trophoblastic diseases, PSTT grows slowly and can invade the uterine muscle. It may cause abnormal bleeding and is sometimes discovered after pregnancy loss or delivery. Treatment usually involves surgical removal of the uterus, and additional therapy may be needed if the cancer has spread. While rare, PSTT requires careful diagnosis and management to ensure the best outcome.
