Place and Displacement

Place refers to a specific location or position in space, such as a city or a point on a map. Displacement is the shortest straight-line distance from an object's starting point to its ending point, regardless of the path taken. For example, if you walk around a park and end up where you started, your displacement is zero, even though you may have traveled a considerable distance. Essentially, place describes where something is, while displacement measures how far and in what direction something has moved from its initial position.
