Pixilation

Pixilation is an animation technique where objects or people are photographed frame by frame while they move very slightly or remain still between shots. When played back rapidly, these images create the illusion of smooth motion, similar to traditional animation. It's often used for artistic effect or to achieve a surreal, jerky movement. Unlike digital effects, pixilation involves physically manipulating real objects or people for each shot, making every change deliberate and controlled. This technique can produce unique, rubbery or whimsical motion that’s distinct from natural movement or standard filming.
