Pitot Tube
A Pitot tube is a device used to measure the speed of airflow or fluid flow. It works by facing into the moving air or fluid, capturing its pressure called stagnation pressure, which is the combined static and dynamic pressure. This pressure is then compared to the static pressure, measured separately, to determine the flow’s velocity. Commonly used in aviation to measure aircraft speed and in wind tunnels, a Pitot tube helps engineers and pilots assess how fast an object is moving through the air, ensuring safety and optimal performance.
