Pitch

Pitch refers to the perceived frequency of a sound, determining how "high" or "low" it sounds to our ears. It is influenced by the speed of sound wave vibrations: faster vibrations produce higher pitches, while slower vibrations create lower pitches. For example, a whistle has a high pitch due to rapid vibrations, whereas a bass drum produces a low pitch. In music, pitch is essential for creating melodies and harmony, and it’s measured in Hertz (Hz), with higher numbers indicating higher pitches. Understanding pitch helps us appreciate music, language, and even various animal communication.
