Pit Viper
A pit viper is a type of venomous snake found in the Americas, known for the distinctive heat-sensing organ called a "pit" located between their eyes and nostrils. They have triangular heads, vertical slit pupils, and strong, muscular bodies. Pit vipers use their venom primarily to immobilize and pre-digest prey, which can include small mammals and birds. They typically strike with precision, delivering venom through hollow fangs, and rely on their excellent camouflage to ambush prey or avoid predators. Despite their dangerous reputation, they generally avoid humans and will only bite if threatened.
