PIT Tags (Passive Integrated Transponder Tags)
PIT tags, or Passive Integrated Transponder tags, are small, electronic devices used to identify and track animals. They are about the size of a grain of rice and contain a tiny chip with a unique code. When an animal with a PIT tag passes near a special scanner, the scanner powers the chip wirelessly and reads the code, providing identification without needing a battery. These tags are commonly used in wildlife research, fisheries, and pet identification to monitor animal movements, behaviors, and populations safely and efficiently.
