Pishdaramad
Pishdaramad is a traditional Persian musical prelude or introductory piece played at the beginning of a classical Persian performance, such as a concert or dance. It serves to set the mood, establish the rhythmic and melodic framework, and transition smoothly into the main composition. Often improvisational, Pishdaramad showcases the performer's skill and familiarity with the musical scales (Dastgah) used in Persian music. Its role is both functional—preparing the audience—and artistic, reflecting the improvisational and expressive nature of Persian classical tradition.
