Pirate History
Pirate history involves the study of sailors who operated outside the law, primarily from the 16th to 18th centuries. Pirates targeted ships for treasure, trading goods, and ransom, often in busy trade routes. They used weapons, disguise, and clever tactics to evade capture. Famous pirates like Blackbeard and Anne Bonny became legends. Over time, navies and nations strengthened maritime laws and military efforts to combat piracy, leading to its decline. Today, piracy persists in some regions, but it is generally viewed as illegal activity threatening global trade and maritime security.
