Pinatubo

Mount Pinatubo is an active volcano in the Philippines that erupted dramatically in 1991. Its eruption released massive amounts of ash, sulfur dioxide, and gases into the atmosphere, creating a massive ash cloud that circled the Earth and caused global climate cooling temporarily. The eruption also generated powerful pyroclastic flows and tsunamis, destroying nearby villages and displacing thousands. Pinatubo’s eruption is considered one of the largest volcanic events of the 20th century, highlighting the importance of monitoring active volcanoes to understand and mitigate their impacts on communities and the environment.
