Pilgrim's Passport (Credencial)

A Pilgrim's Passport, also known as a Credencial, is a physical document that pilgrims carry during their journey, especially on routes like the Camino de Santiago. It serves as a travel log and proof of their progress, as they visit designated towns or churches to get stamps or signatures. The Credencial verifies that the pilgrim is undertaking the pilgrimage and often grants access to accommodations, meals, or special privileges along the route. It also functions as a commemorative item upon completion, often leading to the award of a certificate called the Compostela.
